Materials Needed:

Corrosion inhibitors: VCI (Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor) paper or bags to prevent rust.

Cushioning materials: Foam, bubble wrap, or other shock-absorbing materials.

Strong wooden crates or pallets: These should be ISPM 15 compliant if being shipped internationally.

Strapping materials: Metal or heavy-duty plastic straps.

Waterproof wrapping: Plastic sheeting or shrink wrap.

Desiccants: To absorb moisture and prevent condensation.

Sealing tape: For securing wrapping and covers.

Steps for Packaging:

Clean and Dry: Ensure that the slewing bearing or drive is clean and completely dry. Any moisture can lead to corrosion during transit.

Apply Corrosion Protection: Wrap the component in VCI paper or place it inside a VCI bag. This protects the metal surfaces from rust and corrosion.

Cushioning: Place cushioning materials around the component, especially focusing on protecting gear teeth and other delicate parts.

Secure in Crate or Pallet: Place the cushioned component inside a wooden crate or on a pallet. The crate or pallet should be sized appropriately to prevent excessive movement.

Strapping: Secure the component using metal or heavy-duty plastic straps to ensure it remains stationary.

Waterproofing: Wrap the entire crate or pallet in plastic sheeting or use shrink wrap to protect against moisture and dirt.

Add Desiccants: Place desiccant bags inside the packaging to absorb any moisture that may condense during transit.

Seal and Label: Seal all openings with strong sealing tape and clearly label the package with handling instructions such as “Fragile”, “Keep Dry”, and “This Side Up”.
